The 2018 Montana Invasive Species Summit

Please join the Montana Invasive Species Council (MISC) November 15-16, 2018, for an in-depth dialogue and examination of Montana's invasive species regulatory framework

Agenda | Attendees | Presentations | Report

In 2017, MISC undertook a comprehensive review of federal, state, local and tribal laws and regulations that pertain to the management of invasive species within the state of Montana. The purpose of the review is to:

  1. provide managers and lawmakers with a systematic compilation of the laws and regulations relevant to the management of all-taxa invasive species in the state (click here for the Invasive Species Law Review Compendium) ;
  2. provide information and ideas to improve funding, authority, and management responsibility;
  3. and provide the necessary information for the council to evaluate the need for a comprehensive Montana Invasive Species Act, as outlined in the 2016 Montana Invasive Species Framework

The Summit will be a forum for invasive species managers, county leaders, local and tribal governments, private landowners, lake association members, conservation districts, angling groups and others who work at the local level to review law review findings, suggest action, provide the latest science, and develop recommendations to address invasive species regulatory issues.

This two day-event will also feature national and state leaders and technical experts who will provide insight and best practices on invasive species laws and regulations. Please join us for this important and timely collaboration to learn and plan together for effective, local invasive species prevention in Montana. Click here for draft agenda.
